Edward J. Lawler is Martin P. Catherwood Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Professor of Sociology at Cornell University. He has coauthored three books and edited or co-edited 31 volumes in the annual series, Advances in Group Processes. Shane R. Thye is Professor of Sociology at the University of South Carolina. He works in the general area of social psychology and group dynamics. He has published articles in the American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, Social Forces, and Social Psychology Quarterly
