New, improved and brimful with impartial advice and practical information, this book will go a long way to making a difficult subject simpler for you, your family and the executors of your Will. It will help you make informed decisions and, once completed, save an incalculable amount of stress for your family and offer invaluable assistance for your executors.
By carrying out some simple forward planning by completing your Last Orders you will effectively be lending a helping hand at a time when your nearest and dearest need it most. From whom to contact, the location of your Will, your funeral wishes, how to distribute your belongings, the care of your pet and more, this book will replace confusion with clarity. And, have no doubt, once this checklist is needed by your executors, you will be thanked endlessly for having taken the time to assist them.
The first edition was recommended to clients by top tier law firms, Will writers, financial advisors and - not least - used by thousands of families across the U.K. This second edition will almost certainly save time, untold levels of angst and take most, if not all, of the guesswork out of administering your estate.
When Patricia C Byron was asked to be executor of her friend's Will, she had no choice but to think quickly. Her friend was terminally ill and, having already assisted in the handling of both her father's estate and a friend's recent death, Patricia knew the enormity of the task she was being asked to take on. She also knew that she needed vital answers to some difficult questions. Just a few months before her friend sadly passed away, Patricia wrote the first edition of Last Orders to assist them both. But when her mother died suddenly just one year later, Patricia learnt even more about the challenges and the complications that can arise when dealing with death. She has written for, amongst others, the Manchester Evening News, Mature Times, STEP Journal, Berkshire Life and presented talks to thousands of members of the general public on the importance of leaving clear, unambiguous instructions about our final wishes. She runs a successful publishing house, Stellar Books, and lives in Bowdon, Cheshire.
