Arash Javanbakht, MD, is a psychiatrist who currently serves as the Director of the Stress, Trauma, and Anxiety Research Clinic (STARC) at Wayne State University School of Medicine. His research is focused on anxiety, trauma, and PTSD, and he treats civilians, refugees, and first responders who suffer from PTSD. Dr. Javanbakht is a frequently invited keynote speaker at national and international conferences as well as universities for his expertise in the subjects covered in this book. Multiple media outlets have featured Dr. Javanbakht’s work, including: CNN, National Geographic, Aljazeera, NPR, The Washington Post, Smithsonian, PBS, American Psychiatric Association Press Briefing, Anxiety and Depression Association of America, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He is the academic advisor on the PBS documentary “Mysteries of Mental Illness.” Dr. Javanbakht was recently nominated by Beth Daley, The Conversation’s Editor and General Manager, for the American Academy for Advancement of Science Early Career Award for Public Engagement with Science.
