We dedicate this book to all the Students & Parents, Counselors, Teachers, Tutors, and Administrators in the schools; and the many volunteers in the community who contribute to local education and academic programs that have an impact on the many young people that look to these “key influencers” for guidance, advice, and leadership. It is these informed “key influencers” that are having a tremendous impact on the young students who dedicate themselves to their future educational pursuits and a fulfilling career. TO THE TEACHER/ADMINISTRATOR/CURRICULUM SPECIALIST: This book can be utilized as an outstanding lesson plan for a one-semester course at any level of high school and a one semester course for every senior that graduates from your high school. Also, this book was not written to include everything a student needs to be successful in the classroom – but the most important things they may need.

We believe that this book will provide a solid foundation for the student and for those “key influencers” to guide the student toward the goal of becoming a top student, making the grade to qualify and be eligible to attend the college of their choice; and possibly qualifying for an academic scholarship. We hope to have an impact on these Top Students who are committed to becoming “the best they are capable of becoming”.

Most of the “tools” provided in this book are ideas implemented into my classes over the last twenty-five years. Many of the “tools” are a result of much reading and research by the author; for all those extra hours spent reading about education in the pursuit of improving teaching skills, interests and overall knowledge.

TWO BOOKS -- “TWO SIDES OF THE COIN”

Two books evolved from our efforts to help student-athletes get Athletic Scholarships and the efforts to make sure the student-athlete had the grades to be able to accept a scholarship (whether the scholarship was Academic or Athletic).

The Student-Athlete Scholarship Handbook was the first book written and has been a work in progress since 1976; which focused on getting an Athletic Scholarship, with focus on NCAA eligibility, the recruit-ing process, and factors that can enhance your abilities as an athlete on the field/court and in the classroom. The focus is on the skills you need to develop to be successful on the court/field.

The Student Success In The Classroom was the second book written and has been a work in progress since 1983; which focused on developing skills to improve the student-athletes success in the classroom (Time Management, Study Skills, Test Taking, Reading, Writing, Foundations for Success, Motivation, etc.).
