Autor

Massimo Livi-Bacci is Professor of Demography at theUniversity of Florence. A former president of the InternationalUnion for the Scientific Study of Population, his extensiveresearch interests include contemporary demography as well as thehistory of population. He has taught and held fellowships atuniversities all over the world, including Princeton University,the University of California at Berkeley, the Collège deFrance, and the Colegio de México. His many publicationsinclude Population and Nutrition (1991), The Populationof Europe: A History (Blackwell, 1999), and Conquest: TheDestruction of the American Indios (2007).
