The 11th edition of this directory has been revised, reflecting the changing medical library network. As well as libraries wholly concerned with medicine and nursing, it also lists those of veterinary, pharmaceutical and occupational medicine, and information services run by medical charities.
The 11th edition of this directory has been revised, reflecting the changing framework of the medical library network in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. More healthcare trusts have been formed, more hospitals have been merged and similar changes affect colleges of nursing. The Directory aims to be comprehensive. As well as listing libraries wholly concerned with medicine and nursing, it also lists libraries of veterinary, pharmaceutical and occupational medicine, and information services run by medical charities. Arranged in alphabetical order by library or organization, the Directory includes indexes by town, personal name and hospital. In addition to postal addresses, telephone and fax numbers, it also provides the following information: e-mail addresses and URLs; the named head of service in each library; details of holdings, special collections and size of stock; hours of opening; automated library management systems and special facilities (such as online searching, photocopying services and audiovisual material); full details of NHS Regional Librarian's Group Members; and a list of abbreviations and accronyms.
