The discussions generated with these cards will help users to: understand grief and the grieving process; practise mindful self-care; accept the reality of the loss;  tell their stories of loss and grief; explore the things and people that give them a sense of meaning; hold onto the memories of their loss while at the same time moving forward with their life; learn ways to be able to find joy again and so much more.

Use these cards with a wide range of groups and clients to:

Encourage reflection leading to insight and modification of thoughts, feelings and actions
Consider a scenario, quote or sentence on a particular card
Allow participants to explore their effectiveness by rating themselves
in a variety of critical life skills
Encourage lively discussion and open conversation in a group
Encourage group collaboration
in answering difficult questions
Allow participants to explore important attitudes and personal experiences in a safe setting
Introduce activities and establish the perfect basis for writing diaries, creative expression, games, slogans, board activities, technology and other techniques.

Ester R. A. Leutenberg has worked in the mental health field for many years as a publisher, author and advocate for those suffering from loss. She personally experienced a devastating loss when her thirty-year-old son Mitchell, after struggling with a mental illness for eight years, died by suicide. Soon after, as a way of both healing and helping others, Ester co-founded Wellness Reproductions & Publishing with her daughter Kathy Khalsa and began developing therapeutic products that help facilitators help their clients. Ester and Kathy are the co-authors of the Life Management Skills series for adults, SEALS series for teenagers, and Optimal Well Being for Senior Adults I and II, as well as a variety of other therapeutic card games, board games and posters. John J. Liptak, EdD, frequently conducts workshops on assessment-related topics. He has written three books on career-related topics and these books have been featured in numerous newspapers including The Washington Post, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Associated Press. His work has also been featured on MSNBC, CNN Radio and on the PAX/ION television series, ‘Success without a College Degree’. John has many years of experience in providing counselling services to individuals and groups in a variety of settings including job training programmes, correctional institutions, and colleges and universities. In addition, John has years of teaching experience as an assistant professor.
