CHAPTER ONE
HUMANS AND DEVAS
A primary purpose for writing this book is to convince whomever will listen that it is possible to form an intentional working relationship between humankind and the deva kingdom. Human beings, for the most part, are not consciously aware of the existence of the deva kingdom. Devas are also known to humans as angels. The term angel is generally applied to highly evolved beings within the deva kingdom. I cannot give you a picture of what a deva truly looks like, although artists have imagined and rendered endless likenesses of fairies, pixies, gnomes, and angels. People who think of them at all, tend to perceive devas as idealized baby cherubs and magnificent guardian angels — having seen their images in marble statues, stained glass windows, and baroque, gold-framed oil paintings hanging in museums. Fairies, pixies, gnomes, leprechauns, elves, gremlins and sprites have inspired beautifully illustrated children’s books. Children are sent off to dreamland, their heads filled with images of the devas inhabiting their beloved bedtime stories. However, little consideration is given to the hidden reality within these fairytale images.
My dilemma in writing about devas and angels is that I can offer very little source material to justify many of my assertions. As a seasoned and serious student of metaphysics, I have studied extensively the information available regarding the deva kingdom and its relationship to humanity. I use source materials that are written in arcane language with unfamiliar terms that are meaningless to anyone other than scholars with deep esoteric knowledge.
You may notice that I have cited quotes from metaphysical books that were written before gender neutral expression became the norm. Their authors used male pronouns and words in the masculine gender, which they meant to be inclusive of all human beings. Please accept that no offence was intended.
I am unable to cite a source for every assertion that I make. You will find quotes from different sources reprinted herein, although they’re meant to support the information presented rather than to justify it. In fact, some of my assertions are reasonable inferences that are derived from my own insights, visions and intuitions.
The Secret Doctrine by Helena Blavatsky (H.P.B.), and A Treatise on Cosmic Fire by Alice A. Bailey (A.A.B.), and The Nature of the Soul by Lucille Cedercrans provide us with much information about the deva kingdom. These great works have revealed to us the, heretofore, secret knowledge of the relationship between humans and devas. They suggest that now is the time for humanity to begin working consciously with the deva kingdom.
Humanity is the manifest result of soul intention. Soul is pure consciousness. It is only subjective; it has no form. It exists as the true, still balance point between cause and effect. The soul is the receptor and translator of God immanent and it is the source of inspiration for the building of all forms. The deva kingdom responds to the soul’s inspiration by building forms that reflect its vision. The soul’s nature is love – that divine quality of magnetic attraction that links God the Creator to God the Creation.
Devas are centers of active intelligence that build the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual forms of everything that is manifest in our world. Devas could be called God’s construction workers. Devas use their own bodies as their building material. Essentially, deva bodies are the intelligent bricks and mortar, electricity and plumbing for everything on God’s green Earth.
The human soul expresses itself through a personality that is composed of mental, emotional and physical forms. Devas build these forms through which the human personality expresses itself on the mental, emotional and physical levels.
The human intellect flows through thoughtforms on the mental level. Thoughtforms are deva-built structures constructed of mental matter. Billions of neuron-like structures in the mind field of the human aura are made from the substance of deva bodies. All of our intellectual activity flows through these structures and activates the neurons within our brain circuitry. Human knowledge is made evident by the sophistication of the individual’s thoughtforms and the capacity of brain circuitry to interpret them.
Forms that are created on the emotional level, called patterns, have been identified by psychology in the social sciences. These patterns, also constructed by devas, exist in the emotional field of humanity as a whole. Emotional patterns are inherent in every human being. Emotional patterns are constructed by devas using the substance of their own bodies to create emotional matter. The human aura radiates a frequency of energy that is generated by emotional matter. Our psychological health is determined by the quality of our emotional forms and the degree to which they can be suffused with clear energy and brilliant light.
Physical forms have been identified as the electrical circuitry through which prana or chi flows. Deva-built forms created on the physical level could be understood to be the motherboard of the physical body. Acupuncture points, found at specific junctures in human electrical circuitry, can be manipulated to improve the healthful flow of chi in our bodies. Devas transform the substance of their own bodies into building material for the electrical system of human bodies. The quality of our physical health is directly related to the functionality of the forms through which this energy flows.
Devas at each of the three levels —mental, emotional and physical —build the forms that make human manifestation possible. Devas are active intelligence and they build forms, as directed, by sacrificing their own bodies to create the necessary construction materials. Devas create intelligent forms because deva bodies are made of active intelligence.
The question arises, what would be the purpose of humans having conscious interaction with devas? How would an intentional working relationship with devas change or improve the lives of human beings? Human consciousness expresses itself through mental, emotional and physical forms. Devas build the forms through which the human personality expresses itself on mental, emotional and physical levels. The quality of human expression is directly related to the functionality of the forms through which our expression flows. Devas build all of those forms with their own bodies. Bringing the human relationship with devas into the light of conscious human awareness is the first step in developing an intentional working relationship with the deva kingdom. The purpose would be to build healthier, more light-filled forms for the human expression of Divine Will.
A human being, while incarnate, is dual with both an indwelling consciousness which is the soul and a sophisticated body of manifestation that includes mental, emotional and physical structures. These structures are built by devas. It is irrational to believe that the human body just appears without an organized intelligence directing its development. We know that the human body has an intelligence that directs billions of functions every second and is completely out of conscious awareness. The existence of the devas’ contribution to human incarnation is outside of our awareness, but that does not make it less important to study and to understand. Even though it is the soul that is the source of the drive to incarnate, it is the devas who build all the forms that are required for the soul to express itself on the physical level.
This work is not meant to be simply an interesting theory. It is intended to be a blueprint for a functional working relationship between human consciousness and deva intelligence. It is possible for an incarnate human being to deliberately interact with devas. Humans and devas can cooperate intentionally to form healthier, more functional personality structures — better equipped to express the light and love of the soul. Continuing psychological growth and spiritual discipline, including a meditation practice, can help to prepare us for communicating with devas. We will explore the psychological and spiritual training required to awaken the finer perceptions essential to conscious work with devas. Our training will include learning to participate in an ontological meditation that involves conscious interaction with devas.
Becoming psychologically prepared to work intentionally with devas requires us to heal the dysfunctional mental and emotional patterns in our personality. Every human being is subject to the influence of these patterns because they are endemic within the evolving consciousness of the whole human race. These structures of the personal psyche, which are common to all humankind, were called the collective unconscious by Carl Jung.
As incarnate human beings, we have a responsibility to dispel illusions and delusions derived from mass groupthink. It is only possible to dispel our illusions and delusions if we refuse to be labeled by them. When we say, “I am angry” or “I am sad” or “I am hurt,” we surrender our identity, in that moment, to a transient energy that is harmful to our mental health. First, we must claim our spiritual center as our Self. Then we may say more accurately, “I am feeling anger” or “I feel sad” or “I’m feeling hurt.” We have then achieved enough distance from the experience to know that we have the power to change...
