Everyone from the advanced martial artist to the ambitious beginner should enhance their skills with these step-by-step instructions on techniques, tactics and advanced training methods. From stances, blocks, and thrusts to strikes and kicks, each primary technique is taught through detailed explanations and demonstrative photographs. The principles are essential to the mastery of all martial arts and should enhance the understanding of the many disciplines derived from kempo, including judo, jujitsu, and karate. Durbin also explains the relationship between the various art forms.
William Durbin, a 30-year student and practitioner of martial arts, has reached the level of soke, the highest ranking in Kiyojute Kempo. He is considered to be one of the world's foremost authorities and historians on Kempo, the original martial art. He also holds varying degrees of black belts in judo, karate, taekwondo, and tai chi. Durbin is president of the Christian Martial Arts Association and the Spiritual Martial Arts Research Association. Among his numerous martial arts honors are Presidential Sports Awards for karate and judo. Durbin also has been listed in Who's Who for Karate and American Martial Arts and was chosen as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America.
