This book provides topics on gall development, chemistry, and physiology focusing on galls from different parts of the world. The chapters are devoted to get together basic knowledge and novelties on plant responses to the stimuli of diverse gall inducers, on cell, tissue, and organism levels. The information contained in this volume will set lights on crucial points that together explain how the plant-gall inducer interactions establish and are successful in different natural environments.

Denis Coelho de Oliveira, Professor and Researcher at the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (UFU) - Institute of Biology. Ph.D. in Plant Biology from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) whose thesis was chosen as the best of 2010. He has experience in Botany, with an emphasis on Anatomy and plant development, working mainly on the following topics: plant anatomy, plant morphology, cytology, plant physiology, botany, insect galls, histochemistry, and immunohistochemistry. He is a level 1 productivity fellow from CNPq (the main funding agency in Brazil), indicative of the quality and quantity of publications. He is supervising undergraduate and graduate students in association with researchers from various institutions in Brazil, South America, and other countries around the world. He currently coordinates the Laboratory of Plant Anatomy, Development, and Interactions.

Rosy Mary dos Santos Isaias, Full professor at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Brazil, and researcher of Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq) with more than 150 published articles, most of them with focus on the biology of galls, developmental and histochemical aspects. Leader of the research group on Structure, Physiology and Chemistry of Neotropical Galls since 2006, involving undergraduate and graduate students, and researchers of different institutions in Brazil and South America. She has supervised more than 40 Master and Doctorate thesis on the main topic of this book, 5 of them awarded as the best thesis of The Graduate Program on Plant Biology of UFMG.
