This book examines today's central and yet often misunderstood and misconstrued notion of interculturality. It specifically focuses on one aspect of intercultural awareness that has been ignored in research and education: the presence and influence of things on the way we experience, do, and reflect on interculturality. This book provides the readers with opportunities to engage with interculturality by reflecting on how our lives are full of things and entangled with them. It urges teachers, teacher educators, scholars, and students to open their eyes to the richness that the more-than-human, with which we can reflect, has to offer for intercultural communication education.

Fred Dervin is Professor of Multicultural Education at the University of Helsinki, Finland. Prof. Dervin specializes in intercultural education, the sociology of multiculturalism, and student and academic mobility. He has widely published in different languages on identity, the 'intercultural' and mobility/migration (over 170 articles and 70 books). His latest books include Dervin (2022) Fragments in Interculturality: A Reflexive Approach (Springer); Dervin (2022) Interculturality in Teacher Education (Cambridge University Press), Dervin & Tan (2022) Supercriticality and Interculturality (Springer); and Dervin & Jacobsson (2022) Intercultural Communication Education (Springer). Dervin has made extensive contributions to revising the politics of interculturality within and beyond the 'canon' of intercultural communication education research.

Mei Yuan is Associate Professor at the School of Education, Minzu University of China. Yuan has led many research projects on Minzu and intercultural education and is Recipient of prestigious awards for her contributions to ethnic education. She has co-authored the book Interculturality Between East and West (Dervin, Sude, Yuan & Chen, 2022) and has also published many articles on topics like Minzu education and internationalization in top international journals.
