Academic Paper from the year 2021 in the subject Biology - Micro- and Molecular Biology, , course: Bachelor of Science in Fisheries, language: English, abstract: This text deals with the antimicrobial resistance in fish as a result of its use in aquaculture, the development and spread of this resistance and the risk associated with the antimicrobial resistant in fish culture.Antimicrobial resistance arises due to the overuse of antimicrobial drugs, most prominently antibiotics and others like antivirals, antifungals, etc. An antibiotic is a substance produced by one microorganism that selectively inhibits the growth of another microorganism and there are different types of it. Its use in aquaculture is accompanied by various factors and increasing use of it has several impacts. As of now, the aquaculture sector is growing rapidly and currently, it accounts for more than half of the fish used for human consumption. Demand for food has been increased since the population of the world is growing rapidly so, dependent on aquaculture to provide a safe, reliable, and economic supply of aquatic food has also increased. This increase in production has been accompanied by the intensive use of antibiotics in the aquaculture industry which is leading to the production of antimicrobial-resistant pathogens.

The author, Saurav Lamichhane, was born in 1998 in Nepal. He was enrolled in B.Sc. Fisheries program in the year 2015 at Agriculture and Forestry University, Chitwan. He had traveled to many places related to aquaculture and fisheries, farm, and offices. He had participated in "Leadership, Personality development, Motivational program, Data analysis, Climate change simulation programs."During his four years of an undergraduate program, he had involved in LEE (Learning Entrepreneurial Experience) topic was 'CARP AND MONO-SEX NILE TILAPIA POLYCULTURE IN A CEMENTED TANK'. and was equipped with field-level experience in fisheries and aquaculture. He keeps his keen interest in research and development in breeding and aquaculture production. My name is Biplov Shrestha and I was born in 1997/02/27. I had obtained my Bachelor's degree from Agriculture and Forestry University with 3.87 GPA in Fisheries.I have been involved in numerous survey works and research works such household survey regarding fish consumption and fish farming, its impact and sex reversal technique of tilapia by feeding MT feed along with experience of doing intensive common carp culture as a part of my bachelor's thesis. Currently, I am doing M. Sc in Aquaculture and during mean time I have done some review articles related to antimicrobial resistance in fish and coccidios in fish and I have been involved in teaching since 2020.
