William A. Petit Jr., M.D., F.A.C.P, F.A.C.E. , is a nationally recognized expert in diabetes and a clinical researcher and speaker. He was the medical director of the prestigious Joslin Diabetes Centre affiliate at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain, Connecticut for a decade. Petit is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Connecticut Health Centre and Medical School. He is a member of the American Diabetes Association, CT Chapter's Hall of Merit. Since the murder of his wife and two daughters, he has spent much of his time working for the Petit Family Foundation. Christine Adamec is a medical writer who has co-authored many books with physicians for Checkmark Books, including The A to Z of Addictions and Addictive Behaviors; The A-to-Z Guide to Elder Care; and The A to Z of Phobias, Fears, and Anxieties, as well as medical books for other publishers including Fibromyalgia for Dummies, Prostate Cancer for Dummies, and How to Stop Heartburn.
