12 year old Gabriel King lives in the sleepy town of Forest Hills. Since a brush with death on Thanksgiving dinner a couple of years ago, he developed an unnatural fear of vegetables. Now he avoids them at all costs, too embarrassed to let anyone know his secret. One afternoon he accidentally stumbles into an alternate dimension featuring a run-down version of his town. The middle school is trashed, most buildings in downtown are piles of rubble, and plant life covers everything. Worst of all Gabriel is completely alone.Things get worse when Gabriel's deepest fears start to appear in the form of killer potato monsters with razor sharp teeth and exploding tomatoes. Not to mention King Broccoli, a green snake-like monster half the size of a house intent on Gabriel's destruction! While Gabriel struggles to escape back to his world, he learns he is part of a much larger battle between light and shadow. He must conquer his fear of vegetables if he wants any chance of making it back to his family, otherwise end up as the main course for King Broccoli's dinner!
