Travis studied anthropology and theatre in college before serving as an intelligence analyst in the United States Navy where he utilised his skill as a researcher to track terrorists. He brought this same tenacity to his investigation into the origin of the tarot, leading him into the tombs of ancient Egyptian nobles and rare book collections around the world.
