This book introduces the basic knowledge, concepts, terms and development process of high-speed rail (HSR) and summarizes its main achievements at this stage. It mainly expounds the connotation of high-speed rail to readers from two different aspects of theory and technology. The book explains the development process of high-speed rail in terms of time: yesterday's wheel rail high-speed rail, today's maglev high-speed rail and tomorrow's super high-speed rail; and also spatially, making a comparative analysis of the development around the world.
This book can be used as a reading material for scientific researchers, engineering technicians, management workers, teachers and students of colleges and universities as well as high-speed railfans.
Qizhou Hu is Doctoral Supervisor, Professor and Director of High-speed Railway Science Research Institute at Nanjing University of Science and Technology, China. He is academic leader of "Blue Project" of Jiangsu University, distinguished professor of Henan Polytechnic University, and mainly engages in research on high-speed railway, traffic planning and management, and uncertain mathematical methods. In recent years, he has undertaken more than 30 scientific research projects, including more than 30 national, provincial and ministerial projects. He has published more than 70 papers in important academic journals and international conferences at home and abroad, 6 monographs, 3 teaching materials and 5 popular science books. Siyuan Qu is Senior Engineer of Transportation Department of China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd. and Doctor of Engineering. He studied at Beijing Jiaotong University, Southwest Jiaotong University, Tongji University, and has published more than 200 papers and more than 20 books. Leading the team to research more than 50 scientific and management innovation topics, he also won the second prize of national management innovation twice, the second prize of provincial and ministerial science and technology prize 4 times, the third prize twice, and the science popularization prize for one time, several group company-level related awards. The research results closely integrate the actual practice of the railway operation organization and make innovations.
