It examines these issues in areas where policy and daily life cross-over: education, farming, manufacturing output in a country that faces huge challenges of urbanization, technological education and manpower.

Leo A. Orleans spent most of his career as a China Specialist at the Library of Congress. He was also involved in numerous China-related activities for the World Bank, National Defense University, National Research Council and the National Institute of Health.
