This book highlights the basic information about lightning. It is an unpredictable disaster, and it is an extremely complex electrical discharge phenomenon. A complete theory of lightning does not exist till now. This book elaborates on the basic formation of lightning, terminologies related to lightning, and the preliminary lightning theory. There are different types of lightning, such as cloud flashes, ground flashes (both positive and negative), and air discharges. This book explains some unusual events related to lightning and inspects innovation. This book also describes the measurement of electric and magnetic fields generated by lightning, which are the basic parameters for lightning fundamentals.
Dr. Pitri Bhakta Adhikari is the Assistant Professor of Tribhuvan University. He is a life time member of Nepal Physical Society since 2000. He has written several text and reference books for university course related to science and technology. He has published research articles in various international journals and has been serving as a reviewer of some journals. He has been actively participating in various oral and poster presentations in international conferences. Mr. Aashutosh Adhikari is a student in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Pulchowk Campus, Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University. He has been working as a research assistant for Dr. Adhikari since 2018 and has experience in the field of data analytics and machine learning.
