From a founding editor at TechCrunch and an award-winning communication strategist comes the most comprehensive guide to the newest fundraising options for today’s entrepreneurs.

For startup entrepreneurs, fundraising in this decade has changed dramatically. There was a time when VCs were rock stars and a single founder with a great idea, a team, and a little drive could raise a few hundred thousand dollars to build a business. But those days are gone. In the aftermath of the Great Recession and the massive tech investment contraction in 2014, it has become harder and harder for founders to raise money.

In Get Funded! tech journalist and entrepreneur John Biggs and communication strategist Eric Villenes explain the new funding landscape and the exciting tech-driven models available to entrepreneurs—including crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe, cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, IEOs (Initial Exchange Offerings), micro-loans, and micro-donations—as well as more traditional, tried-and-true methods.

Beyond a road map to the current world of funding, Get Funded! presents proven strategies for pitching, marketing, and bootstrapping. A 360-degree tool with easy-to-follow worksheets and online resources, this book will help entrepreneurs build a sustainable funding strategy that is right for their business and will demonstrate how to flawlessly execute it for success.

Whether you’re starting a food truck or a biotech startup, Get Funded! has you covered.

John Biggs held academic posts at the University of New England, NSW, Monash University, Melbourne and the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada before being appointed Professor of Education at the University of Newcastle, NSW, then Professor of Education at the University of Hong Kong. He retired early to develop his work on constructive alignment and to write fiction. He returned to Hong Kong in 1999, this time to the Department of Psychology and is currently Honorary Professor in that Department.
