The premise behind this book is that an understanding of the principles of risk analysis will produce a more effective, results-orientated security survey/audit geared to the ever changing needs of the organization. A survey/audit is more than a mere checklist indicating that a few locks need to be changed. Ideally, it is a physical representation and measurement of the organization's vulnerabilities, those threats facing it, and the degree to which the security program is effective in its level of protection. Understanding certain basics of risk analysis will insure that the security survey is an accurate reflection of the security program and the needs of the organization. This book will be of interest to anyone who is involved in analyzing risk and preparing, conducting, or interpreting the security survey/audit.
