This book is a semi-biographical account of Daniel Seaman, former director of the Israeli Government Press Office (GPO), and his ten years of working with foreign journalists in the GPO, coupled with an analysis of the impact that foreign media coverage of Israel has had on both public perception and diplomatic policy. It relates the untold story of decades-long manipulation involved in the presentation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by journalists and editors, together with Palestinian operatives, who abused their professional standards in order to create and maintain an ideological narrative. This is a challenging read for those whose opinion on Israel is fixed, but it is a crucial wake-up call for the survival of Western democracy and a free press.

Daniel Seaman is an Israeli political commentator and media analyst. A 31-year veteran of the Israeli civil service, he retired in 2014 as Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Public Diplomacy. He was Director of the Government Press Office of Israel, from 2000 to 2010. He also served with the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit and the Israeli Foreign Ministry.Dr Ron Schleifer is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Communication of Ariel University of Samaria, Israel, and is a renowned authority on psychological warfare. His books and articles deal with psychological warfare and the Arab-Israeli Conflict. He taught at the IDF Command College, and lectures and trains defense organizations on issues of information warfare both in Israel and abroad.
