The goal of this textbook is to introduce concepts of production planning and control. Starting with the basis of planning processes, relevant aspects of the information base, planning tasks and methods are addressed. The focus is set on concepts used in practice, like: MRP II, Kanban, ConWiP, Input-Output-Control, Workload Control, etc. Furthermore, developing concepts directed towards decentralization (Production Authorization Card system) and flexibility orientation (Opportunistic Planning and Scheduling) are explained.

Professor Dr. Hans Corsten, 1986/87 Leitung eines internationalen Forschungsprojektes zum Technologietransfer bei der Kommission der Europäischen Gemeinschaften. 1988 Ruf auf die Professur für Produktionswirtschaft an der Universität Kaiserslautern. 1988 - 1989 Professor an der Universität Kaiserslautern. 1989 Ruf auf den Lehrstuhl für Produktionswirtschaft an der Universität Eichstätt/Ingolstadt. Produktionswirtschaft und Industriebetriebslehre, an der Wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Eichstätt/Ingolstadt. Seit 1. September 1995 ist Univ.-Prof. Dr. rer. pol. habil. Hans Corsten Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Produktionswirtschaft an der Universität Kaiserslautern.

Dr. Ralf Gössinger ist wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter von Univ.-Prof. Dr. habil. Hans Corsten am Lehrstuhl für Produktionswirtschaft der Universität Kaiserslautern.
