Covers such issues as the yield potentials of the species which are farmed; how technologies affect the yields achieved; the extent to which pests, pathogens, competing demands for resources, or scruples about farming processes, curtail our ability to innovate in the production of food; and more.
Can we expect the dramatic increases of the last century to continue? What are the yield potentials of the species which are farmed now? How will new technologies affect yields achieved in future decades? To what extent will pests, pathogens, competing demands for resources, or scruples about farming processes, curtail our ability to innovate in the production of food? Solutions to these and other issues are debated in this volume.

Julian Wiseman has worked at the University of Nottingham, UK for many years. He is a Professor of Animal Production with a major emphasis on research into pig nutrition. He has published extensively; is the author 3 books on pigs, and he has edited another 25 books. These include topics such as animal feedstuffs, poultry, rabbit, and ruminant production. He has translated 3 books from French into English. Professor Wiseman has been a co-author of 11 volumes of the annual series Recent Advances in Animal Nutrition, published by Nottingham University Press.
