Interdisciplinarity is the hallmark of Fishing Places, Fishing People. Dianne Newell is a professor of history at the University of British Columbia and author of Tangled Webs of History: Indians and the Law in Canada's Pacific Cost Fisheries. Rosemary E. Ommer is a professor of history at Memorial University of Newfoundland, and author of From Outpost to Outport: A Structural Analysis of the Jersey-Gaspé Fishery, 1767-1886.
