This Foundation Manual replaces the classic BSAVA Manual of Diagnostic Imaging as an introduction for veterinary students, nurses and new graduates. The Manual includes many high-quality radiographic reproductions, with paired drawings to illustrate normal anatomy and key features of interpretation. The first section introduces the basic principles of the X-ray beam and the underlying principles of technique and interpretation. Section two focuses on imaging of the various body systems, with each chapter covering radiographic anatomy, the merits of radiographic assessment, and the use of a systematic diagnostic approach.

Andrew Holloway BVSc CertSAM DVDI DipECVDI MRCVS RCVS and European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Andrew graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1992. After 8 years in general practice, he joined the University of Cambridge as a visiting resident in radiology, obtaining the RCVS Diploma in 2004 and the European Diploma in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging in 2007. Andrew joined the Animal Health Trust in 2006 as a clinical radiologist.

Fraser McConnell BVM&S DVR DipECVDI CertSAM MRCVS RCVS and European Specialist in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging Fraser graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1993 and then spent 6 years working in mixed practice in Suffolk. He then trained in imaging at the University of Cambridge for 2 years, obtaining the RCVS Diploma in 2000. From 2001 until 2006, Fraser worked as a clinical radiologist at the Animal Health Trust, during which time he became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and an RCVS specialist. In 2006, Fraser moved to the University of Liverpool as a senior lecturer in veterinary diagnostic imaging, and is currently head of the imaging department at the Small Animal Teaching Hospital.
