Sustainable Additives in Polymer Technology covers both the fundamentals and advanced information about various aspects of bio-based additives for different polymers and their numerous applications, providing practical guidance to researchers and industry professionals on how to select, rank, formulate and apply bio-based additives in polymer manufacturing processes. The book starts with a general overview of each bio-based additive and its role in polymer industry, along with their mechanisms of action based on their defined functions. In Part II, industrial and research developments are discussed, as well as classification of materials’ family, their loading level, main advantages over their usage, challenging aspects, and mechanism of performance. Finally, Part III focuses on the economy and commercial grades for each family of bio-based additives, followed by a discussion on research directions and future development in Part IV.

Dr Henri Vahabi received his PhD in Materials Science from the University of Montpellier, France, in 2011, and is currently working as an Associate Professor at the University of Lorraine, France. His research is focused on thermal degradation, flame retardancy of thermoset and thermoplastics, and development of new flame-retardant systems. He is a committee member of the “Fire group” of the Chemical Society of France. Dr. Mohammad Reza Saeb?is a Professor at the Department of Polymer Technology, Faculty of Chemistry, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland. His research is focused on exploration of the interrelationship between processing, microstructure, properties and performance of polymer blends, composites and nanocomposites ? both theoretically and experimentally ? particularly recycling and upcycling of polymer wastes and biowastes. Dr. Saeb has also been dynamically working on synthesis, characterization and application of biomaterials and biopolymers. He has authored/co-authored numerous articles in high impact Journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of Polymers from Renewable Resources, published by SAGE.
