This book starts from the design requirements of variable geometry turbines for marine gas turbines. It systematically and comprehensively introduces the flow mechanism and characteristics of variable geometry turbines, aerodynamic design methods, variable vane turning design methods, structural design technology of the variable vane system, aerodynamic characteristics and reliability test technology for variable geometry turbines, and so on.

Gao Jie is Professor of Harbin Engineering University, Ph.D., and his main research interest is the aerodynamic thermodynamics of marine gas turbines. He has presided over more than 20 scientific research projects, won a 1-second prize of national defense technology invention, and published more than 100 academic papers, including 42 SCI/EI papers as the first author.

Zheng Qun is Professor of Harbin Engineering University, Ph.D., and his main research interest is the aerodynamic thermodynamics of marine gas turbines. He has presided over more than 30 scientific research projects, won 2-second prizes and 3-third prizes of provincial and ministerial science and technology awards, and published more than 100 academic papers.

Lin Feng, Director, Researcher, Doctoral Supervisor, Ph.D., of the No. 703 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Corporation, has long been engaged in the research and development and application research of marine and industrial gas turbine power plants. A number of research results have filled the domestic gap, and he has successively won the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress, 4-first prizes, 4-second prizes, and 4-third prizes of provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technological progress awards, Heilongjiang Provincial Governor's Special Award, and China Industry-University-Research Promotion Association Innovation Achievement Award.

Liang Chen, Researcher of the No. 703 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Corporation, Deputy Chief Designer of a certain type of gas turbine, graduated from Harbin Engineering University, Doctor of Engineering and has long been engaged in gas turbine technology research and product research and development. In a major national science and technology project, he organized the development of three types of gas turbines, presided over 8 basic research projects, and successively won 1 second-class National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 third-class National Defense Science and Technology Progress Awards, and 3 second-class Science and Technology Awards of the Group Corporation. In addition, 2 invention patents are authorized.

Liu Yu, senior engineer and director of the Turbine Technology Center of the No. 703 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, graduated from Harbin Institute of Technology and has long been engaged in research on gas turbine design, turbine structure design, high-performance numerical simulation and simulation technology, etc.,  won 1-second prize and 1-third prize of National Defense Science and Technology Award, and 1-first prize of Group Corporation Science and Technology Progress Award.
