This book proposes the tool change methods for the excessive tool wear in the construction rules of shield tunnel construction in China. From the perspective of shield tunneling, atmospheric pressure tool change, pressure opening and tool change, and other special techniques, the tool change technologies are proposed. It highlights a number of tool-changing techniques and research and development work, including pressure-changing tools, tool-changing tools in the tool-cylinder arm, and cutter-tooth cutter inter-change since the beginning of the construction of the Nanjing Yangtze River Tunnel.

Jian Chen, professor-level senior engineer, Ph.D. at Ocean University of China. Deputy Chief Engineer and Chief Expert of China Railway 14th Bureau Group, a well-known domestic large shield expert, mainly engaged in technical management and scientific research of the large shield cross-river tunnel project. He was awarded the honorary title of "China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Innovation Collective", "Mao Yisheng Railway Engineer", "Shandong Province Excellent Inventor", "Jiangsu Province Top Ten Staff Operation Law" and "Shandong Excellent Young Intellectuals". Successfully completed the construction of large-scale underwater tunnels such as the Nanjing Yangtze River Tunnel, the Yangzhou Slender West Lake Tunnel, and the Wuhan Metro Line 8 Cross-river Tunnel. The scientific and technological achievements of the research and development have reached international advanced and domestic leading level. He received 6 provincial and ministerial-level scientific and technologicalprogress first prizes, 2 second prizes; 1 national-level construction method, 5 provincial-level construction methods; 23 national patents authorized; 1 monograph published; published core and above scientific papers 14 Article. Fanlu Min, Ph.D., associate professor of Hohai University, master tutor, visiting scholar of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, selected as a “big scholar” program at Hohai University. He is mainly engaged in research and teaching of underwater shield tunnels, urban subways, and other aspects. He has presided over 5 vertical projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the National 973 Program Sub-project, and presided over or participated in the Nanjing Yangtze River Tunnel, the Nanjing Weisan Road Crossing River Tunnel, the Yangzhou Slender West Lake Tunnel, the South-to-North Water Transfer Middle Line, the Yellow River Tunnel, and the Wuhan River Crossing Subway. More than 10 large-diameter underwater shield tunnels and technological innovations in urban subways. He won the first prize of provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological progress award; authorized 16 invention patents; published 1 monograph; published more than 60 papers, including 30 SCI/EI papers.
