UAVs for the Environmental Sciences
wbg Academic in Herder (Verlag)
978-3-534-40588-6 (ISBN)
UAVs are used in a vast field of applications in environmental sciences due to their flexible, easy and low-cost data acquisition procedures when contrasted to other remote sensing devices. This book gives an overview of the usage of UAVs in environmental sciences covering technical basics, data acquisition with different sensors, data processing schemes and illustrating various examples of application. Overall, this book addresses the entire processing chain of using UAVs to answer environmental questions.
Anette Eltner is a junior professor of geosensor systems at the Dresden University of Technology. Her research focuses on UAV remote sensing in the scope of geomorphological and hydrological monitoring.
Dirk Hoffmeister is a Postdoc at the Institute of Geography, University of Cologne applying UAVs for geomorphological processes and in agriculture.
Andreas Kaiser is a regional advisor for climate change adaptation and project coordinator at the district council of Siegen-Wittgenstein. He has a background in soil erosion modelling and close range photogrammetry from the universities of Freiberg and Jena.
Pierre Karrasch is an advisor for area monitoring in agriculture at the Saxon State Office for Environment, Agriculture and Geology (LfULG) with focus on remote sensing, photogrammetry and GIS.
Lasse Klingbeil is a senior researcher and team leader at the University of Bonn, Institute of Geodesy an Geoinformation. His research focuses on mobile sensing for surveying and agriculture.
Claudia Stöcker is a PhD candidate at ITC, University of Twente (NL) and an EXIST-Fellow at the University of Münster. Her research focuses on the utilization of UAV technology for land administration and mapping.
