This book highlights selected papers presented at the 10th International Symposium on Embedded Computing and System Design (ISED) 2021. This symposium provides a platform for researchers to share the latest scientific achievements of embedded computing and system design. The book is divided into three broad sections. The first section discusses topics like VLSI and testing, circuits and systems with a focus on emerging technologies. The second section discusses topics like embedded hardware and software systems and novel applications. The final section discusses the state-of-the-art technologies involving IoT, artificial intelligence, green and edge computing that demonstrates the issues currently.
Biswajit Mishra is a Professor and Head of ULP-IC Lab at Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology (DA-IICT), India. He received his B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in 1996. Dr. Mishra received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton, U.K., in 2003 and 2007, respectively. In 2007, he joined the University of Southampton as a Research Fellow and from 2010 to 2013 he was a Senior Scientist at ESPLAB-EPFL-Switzerland, working on ultra-low power and subthreshold design methodology and energy harvesting electronic circuits. His research interests include battery-less electronics, ultra-low-power circuits, sub-threshold design methodology, and system implementation for BSN and WSN.
Jimson Mathew is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department in the Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, India. He did his Masters in computer engineering from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and a Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from the University of Bristol, U.K. He has held positions with the Centre for Wireless Communications, the National University of Singapore, Bell Laboratories Research Lucent Technologies North Ryde, Australia, Royal Institute of Technology KTH, Stockholm, Sweden, and Department of Computer Science, University of Bristol, UK. Dr. Mathew is a Senior Member of IEEE and has also served as a Guest Editor for ACM TECS. His research interests include fault-tolerant computing, computer vision, machine learning, and IoT Systems.
Priyadarsan Patra is a Professor and Dean at UPES University, Dehradun. He recently served as a Chief Validation Architect and Principal Scientist Intel Corp, USA. Over the years, he created and led world-class research and development for servers, systems-on-chip, processors, and smart devices. His current research interests include machine learning applications, big data & cloud computing, and low-power system design. He has edited multiple technical proceedings, authored 75+ scholarly publications, four scientific books, 10+ USA and international patents. An elected Senior Member of both the IEEE and the ACM, Prof. Patra is the Founding Chair of the global IEEE System Validation and Debug Technology Committee. He received a Ph.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin, an M.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, and a B.Eng. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. Passionate about social development and volunteerism worldwide, he has founded the Sustainable Economic and Educational Development Society.
