This is the last volume in a series of comparative studies of computational analysis and simulation of hypersonic flows. The book addresses researchers interested in computational fluid dynamics, the numerical analysis of hypersonic data, space sciences and aircraft technology.
This volume contains state-of-the-art lectures in the field of hypersonics and a collection of experimental and computational data on 8 specific hypersonic-flow test problems. The book provides a compendium of data permitting a comparative evaluation of munerical and experimental results in which different methodologies are used. The quantitative data included is related to aerodynamic coefficients and heat-transfer loads typical of re-entry paths of space vehicles. The material is intended to form the basis of a validation process of numerical and experimental methodologies which is a necessity in aerospace design. These proceedings reflect the activities within the european Hermes research program as well as in some of the international hypersonics programs, and address researchers in both universities and industry interested in computational fluid dynamics, the numerical analysis of hypersonic data, space sciences, and aircraft technology.
