This book presents a theoretical description of fiber Bragg gratings, focusing on channels’ densification and the tunability of Bragg filters. It also includes a full Matlab code for the synthesis and optimization of several kinds of fiber Bragg gratings by using the directed tabu search, the simulated annealing method and the genetic algorithm. Physical and optical parameters of uniform, chirped and sampled fiber Bragg gratings are then reconstructed with these algorithms.
Dr Fethallah Karim received his PhD from the Abou Bakr Belkaid University of Tlemcen, Algeria, in 2011, where he is currently an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Technology and Deputy Head of the Department of Telecommunications. He is a member of the Laboratory of Telecommunications and works with the Photonics research team. His research interests include optical communications, optical filters synthesis, tunable optical switches, optical multiplexers, electronics, and analog and digital communications.
