In this text the Bernoulli equation is introduced early with the intention of increasing student enthusiasm for the more complicated material that follows. This text is intended for a one or two term introductory course in fluid mechanics at first, second or third year undergraduate level for degrees in mechanical, civil, chemical and mechanics engineering. It contains a large number of solved examples, a summary sentence on each page to aid comprehension, and a design emphasis and inclusion of "lab-type" problems. Each example problem is completely solved using a problem statement, detailed solution and often giving a brief discussion of related principles from real-life situations. The text includes "lab-type" problems with experimental data giving a feel for the fluids lab, and includes several "open-ended" problems that require critical-thinking skills.
