This volume collects selected, peer-reviewed contributions from the 2nd Conference of the International Society for Nonparametric Statistics (ISNPS), held in Cádiz (Spain) between June 11-16 2014, and sponsored by the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the Bernoulli Society for Mathematical Statistics and Probability, the Journal of Nonparametric Statistics and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
The 15 articles are a representative sample of the 336 contributed papers presented at the conference. They cover topics such as high-dimensional data modelling, inference for stochastic processes and for dependent data, nonparametric and goodness-of-fit testing, nonparametric curve estimation, object-oriented data analysis, and semiparametric inference.
The aim of the ISNPS 2014 conference was to bring together recent advances and trends in several areas of nonparametric statistics in order to facilitate the exchange of research ideas, promote collaboration among researchers from around the globe, and contribute to the further development of the field.
Ricardo Cao is Full Professor of Statistics at the University of A Coruña (UDC). He is author of more than 120 scientific publications, Co-Editor of Computational Statistics and Associate Editor of the Journal of Nonparametric Statistics and Computational Statistics & Data Analysis. He was also Co-Editor of the journal TEST and President and Vice-President of ECAS. Elected member of ISI, Ricardo Cao has been the Coordinator for Mathematics in the Spanish Agency for Research Evaluation (ANEP) and Vice-rector for Research at UDC.
Wenceslao González-Manteiga is Full Professor of Statistics at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Spain. He is author of about 180 scientific publications, Associate editor of several international journals and he was also Co-Editor of the journal TEST in the past. He is elected member of ISI and he was coordinator of different networks related with the Mathematics and Computing in Spain. He also was member of different commissions related with Agency for Research Evaluation in Spain and other European countries.
Juan Romo obtained his B.Sc. in Mathematics with Honors from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and his Ph.D. in Mathematics from Texas A&M University. He is Full Professor of Statistics at Universidad Carlos de Madrid (UC3M). He has published scientific papers on functional data, time series, resampling techniques and outliers detection, with applications to genetics (microarrays) and financial data. He is Rector of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
