This handbook has been prepared to assist designers and cost consultants to take account of costs-in-use when selecting materials and components, and when advising clients on lifetime costs. The tables follow the standard elements used for cost analysis and give unit costs of the elements from substructure to external works, including mechanical and electrical services. Each table shows the capital cost and costs for cyclical maintenance, the cost of repairs to remedy defects and cleaning, and the mass of components and their heat resistance.
