The use of lasers in gastroenterology has developed rather more slowly than in other fields. This is mainly due to the difficulties in relating the technique to fibreoptic endoscopy. This book aims to put the value of lasers as a therapeutic tool into perspective. Laser therapy is complementary to existing treatments of various gastrointestinal disorders. There are contributions from specialists worldwide including Belgium, Germany, Holland, Japan, UK and USA. The book includes sections devoted to the role of lasers in the treatment of haemostasis and gastrointestinal disease, photodynamic therapy and recent advances and future trends. This book should be of interest to qualified and trainee gastroenterologists, clinicians in other specialities, laser engineers, laser companies and endoscopy nurses.
