QCM-D Studies on Polymer Behavior at Interfaces reviews the applications of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) in polymer research, including the conformational change of grafted polymer chains, the grafting kinetics of polymer chains, the growth mechanism of polyelectrolyte multilayers, and the interactions between polymers and phospholipid membranes. It focuses on how QCM-D can be applied to the study of polymer behavior at various solid-liquid interfaces. Moreover, it clearly reveals the physical significance of the changes in frequency and dissipation associated with the different polymer behaviors at the interfaces.

Prof. Guangzhao Zhang received his BS in 1987 from Sichuan University and PhD in 1998 from Fudan University. He had been a professor at the Department of Chemical Physics at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) during 2002-2010. He is now a professor at the Department of Polymer Materials Science and Engineering at South China University of Technology and an adjunct professor at USTC. His research interests cover conformational change of polymers in solution and at interfaces, anti-biofouling materials and polymer grouting materials. He received the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China in 2007, the Feng Xinde Polymer Prize in 2009 and 2011, and China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) Award in 2009 and 2011. Prof. Zhang also serves as a member of international advisory board of Macromolecules and Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics. Dr. Guangming Liu got his PhD degree in 2007 from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), and he now is an associate professor at the Department of Chemical Physics in USTC. He has published more than 40 fully refereed papers. His main research areas include the conformational behavior of polymer chains at interfaces, specific ion effects in macromolecular systems, growth of polyelectrolyte multilayers, and wetting behavior at solid surfaces. He has gained several honors including outstanding doctoral dissertation of Anhui Province (2009) and China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) Award in 2011.
