Contains the papers presented at the fourth in a series of conferences bringing together engineers concerned with the techniques of formulating and building software for electrical engineering applications. The emphasis is on fitting software to engineer applications. A broad range of software topics, including numerical algorithms, data structures and even aspects of programming methodology and user interface design are covered.

Section 1: Circuits and Systems: Full wave FEM analysis of electrical circuits using circuit elements; MatLab applications to the solution of problems associated to electric power systems; Travelling-wave deflecting systems. Section 2: Antennas and Electromagnetics: A software package for analysis of circular corrugated horns in their operative environment; Efficient analysis of high frequency electronic circuits by combining LE-FDTD method with static solutions. Section 3: Software for Magnetics and Machines: Investigation of optimal design method using evolution strategy and its application; Numerical modelling of stationary and static electric and magnetic fields; Implementation of the harmonic balance FEM method for large-scale saturated electromagnetic devices; An advanced electromagnetic code for the analysis and design of electromechanical apparatuses; One and two dimensional numerical codes for linear induction machines. Section 4: Methods and Formulations: A one step FEM procedure for numerical determination of vector potential and total currents in sets of windings presenting complex topologies; A method for the computation of open-boundary non-linear transient magnetic fields in axisymmetry; Function based approach in transient finite element analysis; An overview of the ELFIN code for finite element research in electrical engineering; Self-heating phenomenon and current suppressing effect at the SiC Schottky interfaces. Section 5: Microelectronics: Computer aided design of meander delay lines; A global modeling technique for monlithic microwave circuits; Utilizing coupled process and device simulation for optimization of sub-quarter-micron CMOS technology; Modeling of transient enhanced dopant diffusion by using a moment-based model describing point-defect clustering. Section 6: Software Packages: A finite element package for electromagnetics using generalised Cartesian elements; Finite element software for practical EMI problems; The domain_integration software package for computing quasi-static magnetic fields; Software package for the numerical simulation of coupled field problems; The FEM analysis of complex grounding systems by the program package FIELD_GS. Section 7: Symbolic Computation: Symbolic computation for the analysis and synthesis of nonlinear control systems. Section 8: Simulation: Virtual reality in telerobotics: an overview and two case studies; Quantum mechanical device simulation of ultrasmall MOSFETs; A modular simulation system for synchronous generators utilizing Simulink.
