Starting with the mathematical modeling of classical problems of hysteretic phenomena, the author provides an insight into the physics of the inverse hysteresis, higher order reversal loops, accommodation, viscosity, creep, wasp-waisted loops and hysteretic coupled systems. Adopting a novel approach, he presents the T(x) model and applies it successfully to describe most, if not all, important phenomena in magnetism. Thus, not only scientists in physics and applied mathematics will benefit from this analytical tool, but also engineers working in magnetic circuit design will gain a mathematical tool for their work. Moreover, designers of magnets and magnetic components will equally profit from the book, as will researchers from other branches of physics, technology and natural sciences.

Jeno Takacs received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and his Ph.D. from the University of Surrey in 1971. He began his professional life as a university lecturer. Following a brief spell in industry he returned to academia in 1963 when he joined the Nuclear Physics Department of Oxford University as a Senior Research Engineer, working on nuclear accelerators and their applications in interdisciplinary research. He was also engaged in research into nonlinear optics. In 1993 he retired from active academic life but continues his theoretical research.
