Jeno Takacs received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and his Ph.D. from the University of Surrey in 1971. He began his professional life as a university lecturer. Following a brief spell in industry he returned to academia in 1963 when he joined the Nuclear Physics Department of Oxford University as a Senior Research Engineer, working on nuclear accelerators and their applications in interdisciplinary research. He was also engaged in research into nonlinear optics. In 1993 he retired from active academic life but continues his theoretical research.
