The Author: Lai Sing Lam received his Bachelor of Economics, M.A. and Ph.D. in Government from the University of Queensland, Australia. In 2000, he was honored with an American Biographical Institute’s 20th Century Achievement Award of the 1000 Leaders of World Influence. In that year he was admitted to membership of the Board of Governors of the ABI Research Association. In the same year, he was also awarded Cambridge’s International Biographical Centre medal of the 2000 Outstanding Scholars of the 20th Century in honor of an outstanding contribution to Chinese Studies.
