Teachers Investigate Their Work introduces the methods and concepts of action research through examples drawn from studies carried out by teachers. The book is arranged as a handbook with numerous sub-headings for easy reference and fourty-one practical methods and strategies to put into action, some of them flagged as suitable `starters'. Throughout the book, the authors draw on their international practical experience of action research, working in close collaboration with teachers.

Bridget Somekh, BA, PGCE, Adv Dip Ed, MA, PhD is Professor of Educational Research at Manchester Metropolitan University and a former Depute Director of the Scottish Council for Research in Education and Dean of the School of Education and Professional Development at the University of Huddersfield. She is an Editor of the international journal, Educational Action Research. She is a former member of the Council of the British Educational Research Association, and is currently an Adviser to DG Research in the European Union, and on the coordinating groups of both the Practitioner Research SIG of the British Educational Research Association and the Collaborative Action Research Network Herbert Altrichter, University of Linz, Austria.
