The pleasures we choose is published on the occasion of the Pavilion of Finland at
the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The publication acts
as a guide for the exhibition and is a support structure for access and communication
on different registers. Intended as a handbook, the book extends beyond the
pavilion’s walls to make the core practices, processes, and politics of the project(s)
visible through various contributions. In dialogue with the artworks of Pia Lindman,
Vidha Saumya and Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen, the diverse contributions
speak to matters of the body, toxicity, access, architectures of violence, disability
justice, interdependency, collectivity, human and planetary health, healing, agency,
embodiment as power, rest as resistance, and the radical act of choosing pleasure.
