He is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo, holds a joint PhD in International Relations from King's College London (UK) in partnership with Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) and also holds an MA in Brazil in Global Perspective from King's College London. A journalist with more than 20 years of experience in Brazilian news outlets, he has also published six books.
