A follow-up to Attallah's 2018 collection of interviews, this anthology takes in more of his spectacular encounters with the great, the good and the not so good. As with the previous volume, Naim's subjects are, alas, no longer with us. Fifty-four interviews are printed in their entirety and all display the wit, wisdom and life experience of a remarkable selection of unforgettable personalities. From the arts come Diana Athill, Sister Wendy Beckett, Brian Moore, Frances Partridge, Kathleen Raine, R. S. Thomas and Arnold Wesker. Other interviewees range from Rabbi Lionel Blue and Claus Von Bulow to Ludovic Kennedy and Auberon Waugh; the formidable trade union baron, Jack Jones to the legendary captain of industry, Sir John Harvey-Jones, and journalistic legends such as Marjorie Proops and William Rees-Mogg. Much like its predecessor, this second collection provides the uncanny experience of reading conversations which could just as easily have been conducted only yesterday.

Autor

Naim Attallah is the chairman of Quartet Books. The former CEO of the Asprey group also co-founded the Academy Club with Auberon Waugh, supported the Literary Review and The Oldie for many years and has written three volumes of autobiography, as well as been involved in numerous productions for the theatre, cinema and television. He lives in London.
