William Petit, Jr., M.D., is a nationally renowned endocrinologist and an acclaimed researcher and speaker. He is the medical director of the Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate of New Britain General Hospital in Connecticut, as well as the section chief for endocrinology, metabolism and diabetes. Petit received his AB cum laude in biochemistry from Dartmouth College and his medical degree cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed a post doctoral fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at Yale University School of Medicine. He is coauthor of The Encyclopedia of Diabetes. Christine Adamec has written fourteen books under her own name as well as more than 800 features, including many medical articles and reports. She has ghostwritten numerous medical articles and six medical self-books for physicians on topics such as arthritis, back pain, and migraines. Her books for Facts On File include The Encyclopedia of Adoption, a revision of The Encyclopedia of Child Abuse, and The Encyclopedia of Diabetes.
