Many students find poetry hard to handle; for some, this difficulty is almost insurmountable. Compared to other literary forms, poetry is often deemed inaccessible. Poetry Made Easy is intended primarily for college students of English who are intimidated by the experience of undertaking a serious study of poetry. This book covers all significant elements of poetry and has what most outlines for an introductory course on poetry would include, but goes about teaching the course differently. The minimal theory that informs this book reflects a fresh approach to the study of poetry in which the focus is around the poems themselves. Mohamed Zayani is Associate Professor of Literature and Critical Theory at the American University of Sharjah. He is the author of Reading the Symptom and numerous scholarly articles.
