First published in 1990 as a printed work, this CD-ROM has been updated, and features full text retrieval and substructure searching facilities. It contains concise chemical, structural and bibliographic data on over 19,000 compounds, including 6,000 drugs.
Originally published in 1990 as a two volume printed work, the "Dictionary of Drugs" is now available on CD-ROM. This single disc combines all the features of the "Dictionary of Drugs" with powerful text retrieval software and the ability to perform sophisticated substructure searching. In addition the dataset has been expanded to cover drugs launched in the marketplace since 1990. This Dictionary contains concise chemical, structural and bibliographic data on over 19,000 compounds including 6,000 drugs. Entries include all drugs listed in generic name compilations (US adopted names, international nonproprietary names and British approved names) plus compounds currently undergoing clinical trials and bioactive natural products. Much of the physical data has been extracted from patent literature, making available an unprecedented amount of information on new drugs. Compiled by a distinguished board of leading medicinal chemists, the "Dictionary of Drugs on CD-ROM" is a companion publication to the "Dictionary of Organic Compounds" (available both as a printed work and on CD-ROM) and follows a similar format.
Each entry is laid out in an easy-to-follow manner and contains a wealth of data invaluable to the medicinal chemist, including an extensive list of trade and generic names, therapeutic uses, dissociation constants, hazard/toxicity data and selected references to further pharmaceutical and clinical information. State-of-the-art software has been developed to allow researchers to search the database by text of by substructure and combine the two. The system runs under user-friendly Windows (TM) (Version 3.0 or 3.1) on an IBM or compatible PC with a CD-ROM drive.
