Jack Halpern is Research Fellow at Showa Women's University and CEO of the CJK Dictionary Institute in Japan, which specialises in the compilation of Chinese, Japanese and Korean dictionaries. A lexicographer by training and profession, he is a multi-linguist who has spent 16 years in compiling The New Japanese Character Dictionary (Kenkyusha / NTC) upon which this is based. Further research over recent years has resulted in the current revised edition of this best-selling title.
