Explicit, sometimes shocking, always thought-provoking, "Sex and the Psyche" reveals the true nature of British sexual fantasies for the first time. Although we talk about sex with increasing candour, we tend to be much less willing to discuss our private sexual fantasies. This book gives us an unprecedented insight into the hidden world of our sexual imagination, showing, as never before, that we are far from alone in our unspoken desires and secret thoughts. Using rigorous methodology, psychotherapist Brett Kahr has conducted the largest survey ever in the field, over a period of five years, bringing together responses from over 19,000 British adults, with more than a 1,000 fantasies featured in this volume. He explores the full richness and variety of our sexual fantasies, with categories ranging from exhibitionism to celebrities, infidelity to violent scenarios, and seeks out answers to all manner of questions such as: What constitutes a normal sexual fantasy? Why do we have such active imaginations? Do men and women fantasize differently? Should we share our fantasies with our partners? What are the origins of our fantasies?
Most fundamentally, he asks what our sexual fantasies tell us about ourselves. Frank, engaging and truly mind-blowing, "Sex and the Psyche" opens up the secret world inside us all.
