A Naturalist's Guide to the Mammals of Southeast Asia is an easy-to-use introductory photographic guide to 129 species of mammal commonly encountered in the Southeast Asia region (covering Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam).

High quality photographs from some of the region's top nature photographers are accompanied by detailed species descriptions, which include nomenclature, size, distribution, habits and habitat, as well as interesting snippets of information about the mammals. The user-friendly introduction covers details on habitats, advice on mammal watching, notes on taxonomy and information on threats to the wildlife. Also included is an all-important checklist of all of the mammals of Southeast Asia encompassing, for each species, its common and scientific name, and IUCN status. The third edition features completely updated taxonomy, new species and a revised checklist splitting Peninsular and East Malaysia (Borneo)

Chris R. Shepherd and Loretta Ann Shepherd are a husband-and-wife team, working on wildlife conservation issues throughout Southeast Asia. Both strongly believe that an increased appreciation for wildlife is the key to conservation success. Charles M. Francis has been observing and studying mammals in Southeast Asia since 1979, and has written numerous research papers on mammals in the region and several books, including A Field Guide to the Mammals of Borneo and Field Guide to the Mammals of South-East Asia. He is now a research manager with the Canadian Wildlife Service working on both birds and mammals.
